Data & Methodology

Where the numbers come from, and how listings are ordered.

What's in the Database

  • 22,800+ interstate exits with coordinates, county, and ZIP, compiled from public highway and geographic datasets.
  • 19,000+ towing companies with business name, phone, address, hours, and Google rating, compiled from publicly available business listings.
  • 7,900+ city pages and corridor pages for every interstate, in all 50 states and Washington, D.C.

How Companies Are Ordered

Listings on exit and city pages are ordered by one thing: straight-line distance from the exit or city center, closest first. No company can pay to change its position in that order.

  • Featured marks a company with paid placement styling. It is always labeled, and it does not change the distance ordering.
  • Verified means the owner has claimed the listing and manages its details (hours, fleet, photos) directly. Verification is free and does not affect ranking.
  • Ratings and review counts come from Google and are shown as-is. RigExit does not collect or edit reviews.

Update Cadence

Exit and city pages refresh their listings at most every hour. When a verified owner edits their profile, their company page updates within minutes. Unclaimed listing details are refreshed periodically from public sources.

Corrections

Wrong number, closed business, or missing company? Owners can claim the listing and fix it directly, and it's free. Anyone else can email contact@rigexit.com and it gets fixed by hand. More about who runs the site is on the about page.
